New Climate Crisis Committee
New progressive members in the 116th Congress, led by Representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (NYD), lobbied hard for a new select committee to address climate change. (They called the idea a “Select Committee on a Green New Deal.”) There was such a committee in Congress from 2007 to 2010, but it was abandoned.
