The territorial dispute between Pakistan and India is perhaps the most dangerous conflict in the modern world. The two nations in South Asia have fought several wars over the past 57 years, and both have recently acquired nuclear weapons — vastly increasing the potential devastation from any future war.At the heart of the disagreement between India and Pakistan is the region of Jammu and Kashmir, a largely mountainous area roughly the size of the U.S. State of Utah, located along the northern edges of India and Pakistan.
