From January 9 to 13, 2006, the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary held confirmation hearings on the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to be an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. During the hearings, questions were presented to Judge Alito by the 10 Republican and eight Democratic members of the committee.
