In March 2023, the Tennessee state legislature passed a law preventing minors under the age of 18 from accessing medical treatments for gender dysphoria. The prohibition included the use of puberty-blocking drugs as well as hormone treatment that would transition the patient to the gender not assigned to them at birth.
