Farm Bill and Drought Aid
Congress left at for its summer recess without approving a long-term farm bill to renew nutrition and agriculture programs. The bottleneck was in the House, where Republican Speaker John Boehner (OH-R) determined that Members were still too divided over the bill’s provisions to make its passage feasible. Exacerbating the situation has been the severe and broad-scale drought the country is experiencing.
