Iran Sanctions
The Iran Sanctions Act (ISA), enacted in 1996, provided for the imposition of economic sanctions on foreign entities that invested in Iran’s energy sector. Its aim was to deny Iran the financial means to pursue weapons of mass destruction. The Act is now set to expire at the end of 2016, and while most of its provisions were waived as part of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, the sanctions can be still be imposed if Iran violates the agreement.
