Everett Eissenstat, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for the Americas

The United States signed the Trade Promotion Agreement with Peru, which permanently reduces trade barriers between the two nations, on April 12, 2006. The agreement will go into effect if the U.S. Congress votes to approve it. A date for that vote has not yet been scheduled. Everett Eissenstat has served as Assistant U.S. Trade Representative since January 2006. He is responsible for developing and implementing U.S. trade policy in the Americas.
