Senator Warner was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1978. He served as the Undersecretary of the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1972 and as Secretary from 1972 to 1974. He directed the U.S. Bicentennial Commission from 1974 to 1976. He sits on the following committees: Armed Services, Environment and Public Works, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and the Select Committee on Intelligence.
