Jacques Paul Klein
Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General Coordinator of the United Nations Operations in Liberia
In July 2003, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan appointed Jacques Paul Klein to be his Special Representative for Liberia with the rank of Under Secretary-General. He previously served as the Secretary-General’s Special Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina. From 1997 to 1999, he served on behalf of the U.S. Government as Principal Deputy High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 1996, UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali selected him to serve as Transitional Administrator for Eastern Slavonia, Baranja, and Western Sirmium.
