Jamesa J. Drake, Counsel of Record At 9:50 p.m. on October 13, 2005, Hollis Deshaun King and two friends were sitting on a couch in King’s apartment in Lexington, Kentucky, smoking marijuana. Police officers, who were trying to locate a drug dealer who had fled down the hallway of King’s apartment, knocked loudly on King’s door and announced themselves. King did not answer the door, and the officers reported that they heard noises in King’s apartment that led them to believe that evidence was being destroyed.
