The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives is an independent, nonpartisan research institute concerned with issues of social and economic justice. Founded in 1980 and based in Ottawa, the CCPA is one of Canada’s leading progressive voices in public policy debates. It publishes numerous reports, studies, and books, as well as a monthly magazine and quarterly education journal. Hugh Mackenzie is an independent economic consultant and a research associate for CCPA.
