Austria has been a member of the UN since December 14, 1955. Its two-year term as an elected member of the UN Security Council expires on December 31, 2010. Christian Ebner is Austria’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN. The following is excerpted from Ambassador Ebner’s statement during UN Security Council debate on December 23, 2009.
