Ambassador Houssam Diab

The Lebanese ambassador requested permission to speak at the open United Nations Security Council meeting on the Iraq situation. Lebanon was the host and chair of the Beirut Summit of the League of Arab States, which normalized relations between Iraq and the other Arab nations. It joined the UN on October 24, 1945. Houssam Diab was appointed UN Ambassador in 1999.
