Elfatih Erwa has served as Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations since July 1996. Prior to that, he was the nation’s Minister of State for Defense. He was invited to speak before the Security Council during deliberations on Resolution 1556, threatening Sudan with economic sanctions.
