Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
Russia is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. It joined the UN on October 24, 1945. Sergei Lavrov was appointed Russia’s foreign minister in March 2004. He had spent the previous 10 years as Russia’s ambassador to the UN.
