Ambassador Wang Guangya
China is a permanent member of the UN Security Council. Wang Guangya has served as China’s permanent representative to the UN since August 2003. The following is excerpted from statements made by Ambassador Wang during the 5,551st meeting of the United Nations Security Council on October 14, 2006. The Security Council has just adopted a resolution on thenuclear test by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. On October 9,2006, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea flagrantlyconducted a nuclear test in disregard of the common opposition of theinternational community.
