Supreme Court TV Coverage
Senator Richard Durbin (IL-D), the Assistant Majority Leader, and Charles Grassley (IL-R), Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, have introduced legislation to require open proceedings of the U.S. Supreme Court to be televised. Open sessions are those that members of the public are already allowed to observe in person. The Cameras in the Courtroom Act (S. 1945) would require television coverage of open sessions unless the Court decides, by a majority vote, that doing so would constitute a violation of the due process rights of one or more of the parties before the Court.
