he Palestinians are Arabs who live in the geographical area that constitutes present-day Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, or who have historical and/or cultural ties to that area. Since the early twentieth century, the desire to establish an independent state in historic Palestine has remained the dominant Palestinian national goal.
