Recent Action by Congress on Extending Emergency Jobless Benefits
As the second session of the 113th Congress gets underway, Members of both parties are developing proposals to respond to recent studies that show growing income inequality between wealthy households and those of middleand low-income Americans. The first order of the day for Democrats has been to try to pass an extension of emergency unemployment benefits that expired for about 1.3 million individuals on December 28, 2013.
