Recent Action by Congress on Electronic Cigarettes

In April 2014, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a long-anticipated proposal that would extend the agency’s authority to regulation of the fast-growing electronic cigarette industry. The proposal drew more than 80,000 comments from public health advocates, e-cigarette supporters, and others, which the agency is currently considering.
