Former Texas Education Commissioner
Michael L. Williams served as Texas Education Commissioner, and in that capacity as leader of the Texas Education Agency, from 2012 to 2015. From 1999 to 2011, he was an elected member of the Texas Railroad Commission, which oversees the oil and natural gas industries. In 1990, President George H.W. Bush appointed him Deputy Assistant Secretary of Education for Civil Rights.
