Net Neutrality Resolution
Senate Democrats plan to use the Congressional Review Act (CRA) — a law Republicans have used to overturn Obama-era regulations — in a longshot attempt to revoke the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) December 14, 2017, decision to dismantle net neutrality rules. The rules prohibited broadband providers from blocking websites or charging for higher-quality service or certain content. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY-D) and Senator Ed Markey (MA-D) announced on January 9 that 40 Democrats had so far signed on to their resolution disapproving the FCC rule.
