Representative Slaughter, of the Twenty-Eighth District of New York, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1986. She served in the Monroe County Legislature from 1976 to 1979, as a Regional Coordinator for then-Lieutenant Governor Mario Cuomo from 1976 to 1979, and in the New York Assembly from 1982 to 1986.
