Representative Thompson, of the Second District of Mississippi, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1993. He served on the Bolton (Mississippi) Board of Aldermen from 1969 to 1973, as Mayor of Bolton from 1973 to 1979, and as Hinds County Supervisor from 1980 to 1983.
