Smith, Eric Cardin, Cyril Shea, Mark Bashour, and Nancy Clark are protestors who would regularly gather outside reproductive health care clinics in Massachusetts to hand out leaflets and attempt to convince women they believe are entering the site to have abortions to change their minds. In 2007, Massachusetts passed a law prohibiting such demonstrations within 35 feet of any clinic entrance, exit, or driveway.
