Senator Reid was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986. He served in the Nevada Assembly from 1968 to 1970, as Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1970 to 1974, and in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1982 to 1986. He is the Senate Minority Whip and sits on the following committees: Appropriations, Environment and Public Works, Ethics, Indian Affairs, and the Special Committee on Aging.
