The mission of the FAA is to provide the world’s safest, most efficient aerospace system. Michael Huerta was sworn in as FAA Administrator in January 2013. He was previously the agency’s Deputy Director. He held senior positions in the U.S. Department of Transportation from 1993 to 1998, served as Executive Director of the Port of San Francisco from 1989 to1993, and as Commissioner of New York City’s Department of Ports, International Trade, and Commerce from 1986 to 1989.
