On June 7, 2010, Sergio Hernández, a Mexican 15-year-old from Juarez, was with a group of fiends on the Mexican side of the U.S. border when he was shot and killed by U.S. Border Patrol agent Jesus Mesa, who was standing on U.S. soil. Hernández’s parents, Jesus Hernández and Maria Guadalupe Guereca Bentacour, contend their son was simply playing a game of trying to run up a concrete culvert onto U.S. soil and touch the 18-foot security fence when the agent opened fire.
