Ambassador Peter Wittig
Germany has been a member of the United Nations since September 18, 1973. Its two-year term as an elected member of the UN Security Council expires on December 31, 2012. Germany held the presidency of the Security Council in September 2012. Peter Wittig has served as the German permanent representative to the UN since December 2009.
