One of the Bush Administration’s legislative priorities is to change the civil justice system to rid the country of what it claims are frivolous lawsuits that are hindering American competitiveness. The three targets of reform are class action lawsuits, medical malpractice, and asbestos compensation cases.The President won a major victory in this effort early this year when he signed into law the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005, the first major bill to be enacted by the new, 109th Congress.
