The Republic of Indonesia became a Non-Annex I party to the UNFCCC on November 21, 1994. It acceded to the Kyoto Protocol on March 3, 2005. It is the host nation for the 2007 meeting of parties to the convention. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono became president of Indonesia on October 20, 2004. Prior to that, he was a general in the Indonesian army.
