In May 2018, the Supreme Court overturned a 25-year-old law titled the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PAPSA). Sports betting had been against the law in almost all States since 1992. Since then, New Jersey, Delaware, Mississippi, West Virginia, and New Mexico have legalized it. Nevada, Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania allow gamblers to place bets online as well as in person.
