Military Readiness
The nonprofit group Mission: Readiness, consisting of 700 retired admirals, generals, and other top military leaders, is highlighting the fact that, based on U.S. Department of Defense figures, 71 percent of young adults ages 17 to 24 are ineligible for military service. The three leading preventable causes of ineligibility, according to the group, are: being overweight, lacking education, and having a history of crime or drug use.
