A bipartisan group of senators has introduced S. 793, the Organization of American States (OAS) Revitalization and Reform Act. The legislation urges the implement of certain management reforms at the OAS and requires the U.S. secretary of state to identify a path toward their adoption. The OAS, which is made up of all 35 independent states of the Americas, constitutes the main political, juridical, and social governmental forum in the region.
