The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. National League activities are coordinated and staffed by two distinct but complementary organizations. The League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) is the political advocacy and membership organization. The League of Women Voters Education Fund (LWVEF), established in 1957, is the citizen education and research organization.
