Representative Souder, of the Third District of Indiana, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994. He served as Staff Director of the U.S. House Select Committee on Children, Youth, and Families from 1984 to 1989, and on the staff of U.S. Senator Dan Coats (IN-R) from 1989 to 1993, first as Legislative Director, then as Deputy Chief of Staff. He serves on the Government Reform Committee, where he chairs the Subcommittee on Criminal Justice, Drug Policy, and Human Resources.
