Seth P. Waxman, U.S. Solicitor GeneralMr. Waxman was nominated to be Solicitor General by President Clinton on September 17, 1997, and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in November. Named Assistant Solicitor General in October 1996, he had been Acting Solicitor General since September 1, 1997. From April through July 1997, he was also Acting Deputy Attorney General. He served as Associate Deputy Attorney General from May 1994 through September 1996. Mr. Waxman is a 1977 graduate of Yale Law School.
