Brazil is a Non-Annex I Party to the Kyoto Protocol, having ratified the accord on August 23, 2002. Brazil hosted the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (known as the Earth Summit) in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992. André Corrêa do Lago is the Head of the Division for Environmental Policy and Sustainable Development at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Relations.
