Telecommunications Terms

Analog — Short for the word "analogous," which means "similar to." The signal being sent — voice or video — is sent as a stream of changing radio waves and is similar to what is received. Bandwidth — The width of a band of electromagnetic frequencies. The term generally refers to the speed with which data flow on a given transmission path. Any digital or analog signal has a bandwidth.
