Recent Action by Congress on Moves to Disapprove the Agreement
On July 14, 2015, after years of negotiations, the five members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany and the European Union (EU) completed a nuclear agreement with Iran. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) provides that sanctions on Iran imposed by the United States, EU, and UN would be lifted in return for Iran agreeing to make long-term curbs on its nuclear program.
