What Congress Is Doing on Kids Online Safety
The Kids Online Safety Act rolls through the chambers of Congress
In 1998, Congress passed its last law geared toward protecting children on the internet, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The prevalence of technology and the internet has exploded in the years since that legislation took effect. The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) aims to fill the gaps not yet addressed by federal legislation and protect minors online, though its means may be subject to legal challenges.
