Recent Action on Medical Liability Insurance
In response to the increasing cost of medical liability insurance coverage, especially in certain States, the Bush Administration, on July 24, 2002, called on Congress to pass legislation to reform the current system. The Administration outlined a framework for Federal action that included the adoption of national minimum standards to make the system "more fair, predictable, and timely." House Action On July 25, Representative James C. Greenwood (PA-R), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, introduced H.R. 4600, to limit medical malpractice damages and plaintiff attorney’s fees.
