Representative Hastings, of the Twenty-Third District of Florida, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1992. He served as Broward County (Florida) Circuit Court Judge from 1977 to 1979. He sits on the House Rules Committee and on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, where he is the Ranking Minority Member of the Subcommittee on Terrorism and National Security.
