Representative Shaw, of the Twenty-Second District of Florida, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1980. He served as a Ft. Lauderdale City Commissioner from 1971 to 1973, as Ft. Lauderdale Vice Mayor from 1973 to 1975, and as Mayor from 1975 to 1980. He sits on the House Ways and Means Committee, where he chairs the Subcommittee on Trade, and on the Joint Committee on Taxation.
