Representative Menendez, of the Thirteenth District of New Jersey, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1992. He served on the Union City (New Jersey) Board of Education from 1974 to 1972, as Union City Mayor from 1986 to 1992, in the New Jersey Assembly from 1987 to 1991, and in the New Jersey Senate from 1991 to 1992.
