On December 3, 2014, a group of 27 States and governors led by Texas filed suit against the United States challenging the legality of the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents Program (DAPA). DAPA was an Executive action by President Barack Obama to offer a temporary normalized immigration status and work authorization to approximately 4 million parents of U.S. citizens and green-card-holding non-citizens in the country illegally.
