Donald Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States in November 2016. Four years later, he was defeated for reelection by Joe Biden. Trump publicly disputed the results of that election. On Jan. 6, 2021, he held a rally by the White House whose attendees would later attack the U.S. Capitol, temporarily disrupting the certification of Biden’s victory.
