Theodore B. Olson, Solicitor GeneralThe United States has filed an amicus brief because of the Federal civil rights law and constitutional implications of the case. Theodore B. Olson was nominated to be Solicitor General by President George W. Bush on February 14, 2001, and was confirmed by the Senate on May 24, 2001. Prior to that, he was a partner in the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where he worked for 16 years. He received his law degree in 1965 from the University of California at Berkeley.
