In February 2010, Miguel Angel Peña-Rodriguez was convicted of multiple counts of unlawful sexual contact and harassment and sentenced to two years probation. A jury had found him guilty of entering a women’s bathroom at the racetrack where he worked and groping two underage girls who lived on the property. After the trial was concluded, two jurors told lawyers for Peña-Rodriguez that another juror had expressed anti-Hispanic bias during the deliberations. Peña-Rodriguez appealed his conviction on the grounds that juror prejudice prevented him from receiving a fair trial.
