Representative Walden, of the Second District of Oregon, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1998. He served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 1988 to 1994, and was Majority Leader from 1991 to 1993. He served in the Oregon Senate from 1994 to 1996. He sits on the Agriculture Committee, where he chairs the Subcommittee on Forests and Forest Health, and on the Energy and Commerce Committee. He is also a Deputy Whip.
